Talascend team tackle the London Marathon

13 April 2010

Two employees at staffing company Talascend will be running for charity in the London Marathon on April 25. Matthew Roberts and Blair Hickman, from Talascend’s Bristol office, are attempting the Marathon in aid of Phabkids, a national charity dedicated to the integration of people with and without physical disabilities.

Principal consultant Blair Hickman has been running half marathons for several years to raise money for another charity which supported a colleague’s severely disabled sister. He has been training with senior rail consultant Matthew Roberts, who only entered his first running event in 2009. Blair Hickman, principal consult at Talascend said: “So far my training has been varied, ranging from falling over and crawling a great distance in the heavy snow in January to becoming extremely dehydrated in the sun last weekend, having to borrow water from a child cycling past. Raising money for Phab Kids has been another challenge but it looks like I will hit my target of £1,600 thanks to generous support from my friends, family and colleagues.”

Matthew Roberts, senior rail consultant at Talascend said: “I decided to run the London Marathon after entering the Bristol 10K last year. I am a bit apprehensive about how tough it’s going to be, but have enjoyed training so far. I am aiming for the 3 hour 50 mark and any improvement on this will be a bonus!
